Wow! This was one of the longest and most rewarding weekends of my life! Ally was admitted to St. Luke's Hospital on Friday after a routine Dr's visit showed that she had a very elevated blood pressure. After some blood work, Dr. Kriner decided to go ahead and induce labor since Ally was showing early signs of preeclampsia. Better to go ahead and induce labor now since the pregnancy was technically full term at 37.5 weeks rather than risk further complications by waiting.
Ally will write a much more detailed account later but here is the short version of our weekend:
Ally was admitted to St. Luke's on Friday at 4 pm. I arrived at 4:30 PM. Ally started on medication that night to induce labor and really did not start active labor until Saturday evening. Ally did an amazing job delivering our a baby girl and it was an incredible experience for me to be by her side and watch the miracle of birth. Truly an amazing experience. Ally's parents arrived on Saturday morning after driving late Friday night and were there to welcome Reagan into the world with us on Sunday.
Reagan was born on Sunday June 8. 2008 at 8:55 AM. She weighed 6 lb, 10 oz and was 20 inches long. Now I will be the first one to admit that I am bias, but dang... she sure is about as cute as they come. Enjoy the pics.
